Our History

Our family run business Little Lane has derived from our love for dogs. Right from the beginnings of our family farm, Hoylands Farm, there have been many cherished four legged companions such as Jenny the Airedale, Sherry the Lakeland terrier, Sophie the Boxer, Alice, Bessie, Cleo, Annie, Millie and Mac the German Shepherds, Bertie the Labrador and Jeremy, Tilly and Eddie our much loved crossed breeds. We are now lucky enough to have the company of Jack, Fizz and Barney.
It has been a dream of ours to work with dogs full time so both my sister and I have learnt as much knowledge as we can in order to care and offer a safe and fun environment.
We first opened our 'Little Lane Dog Daycare in 2017. We were constantly being asked for over night stays too. This led us to build and open our dog hotel in 2021 'The Little Lane Dog Retreat'.

Our Little Lane Dog Retreat

We wanted to create somewhere that dogs can feel safe and happy.
Our hotel is very secure with a comprehensive alarm and CCTV system, plus we live on site so your dogs are always very well protected.
The twenty two bedrooms are large and nicely decorated. All rooms are insulated and have glass UPVC doors and central heating so they will never get cold. We always play classical music for the dogs so they can relax in their rooms. Some rooms have full size single beds, sofas, leather chairs or we have a mixture of different sized classic style dog beds. Of course, you can choose for your dog to have their own bed from home.
You can also choose to bring your own dogs food or we can feed them our dry grain free Lamb, Sweet Potato and Mint by Pips Pet Pantry. If required, we are happy to give your dog their oral medication with no extra charge.
Each room has a toileting area at the back but we will take them out four times a day. They will get plenty of exercise on lead walks around our land or running free in our secure paddock depending on their individual needs.
If your dog is happy to mix and play nicely with other dogs we will mix them in a group during their exercise time. If you prefer them to be walked individually that is fine too. We will always put the health and safety of each dog first during their stay with us. We understand that socialisation is important for some dogs but if a dog does not get on well within the mixing group we will take them out and exercise them separately or with another suitable dog on a walk.
Overall, we will make sure they enjoy their stay whilst in our care.

All the dogs will get a trial before we accept a booking to make sure they are happy and can settle with us. This is really important as we want all the dogs to be able to relax and have a good time.
